Renewable Electricity by State

Comparing renewable electricity growth across selected U.S. states

About This Website

Renewable electricity is becoming a larger part of electricity production in the United States, but states are not changing at the same rate. This website compares non-hydroelectric renewable electricity generation in 20 selected states between 2023 and 2024.

The goal is to help users compare both total electricity generation and annual percentage growth. A state with the largest total does not always have the fastest growth rate, so both measurements are useful.

High-Level Takeaways

Fastest Growth

Arizona had the highest percentage increase in the selected dataset. Its generation increased by 44.6% from 2023 to 2024.

Largest Total

Texas generated 165,753 thousand MWh in 2024, the largest total among the 20 states on this website.

Different Measures

Total production shows the scale of a state's renewable industry, while percentage change shows how quickly it is growing.
